Our special trips and events offer fun for the whole family and bring the eventful history of Frankfurt’s public transport system to life!
With the historic streetcars, subway trains and buses of the Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt(VGF), we organize regular special trips and events for various occasions throughout the year: large and small anniversaries, exhibitions or collaborations with our partner associations in the region.
Every year, we at HSF almost traditionally organize the Easter Bunny Express, the Santa Claus Express and our Summer Festival or Transport History Day!

Technology and history for young and old
Expert guided tours give you an insight into our vehicle collection, down to the smallest detail. For groups of amateurs, interested parties and experts, there is something for everyone.
We place particular emphasis on age-appropriate tours for school classes and children’s groups from the age of 6.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer guided tours as the main hall of the museum must remain closed to visitors.

From the past into the future
In the two halls of the transport museum in the Schwanheim district, we present the permanent exhibition of around 25 historic streetcars, work vehicles and buses, which has been in existence since 1986.
The exhibition is embellished with numerous original exhibits from over 150 years of local public transport operations.
Since 2020, gems from the former Offenbach Transport Museum have also been on display, because the local transport history of the two neighboring cities is more exciting and closely connected than you might think!
We are working on making as many of the exhibits as possible accessible interactively so that they can always experience new, exciting things up close.
Light rail exhibition at Kirchplatz
In the hidden rooms of the Kirchplatz subway station in the heart of Bockenheim, the Transport Museum has a permanent exhibition dedicated entirely to the history of the Frankfurt subway.
The exhibition is currently being completely redesigned and will at least partially reopen in new splendor in the course of 2023. Due to the location, this exhibition can only be visited on certain days. The opening days will be announced here on the website.
Special exhibitions
On special occasions, such as major anniversaries, we design temporary special exhibitions, such as in 2018 for the 50th anniversary of the subway or most recently for the 150th anniversary of the Frankfurt streetcar.

Für Kinder und Erwachsene die mal in die Geschichte der „Elektrischen“ eintauchen wollen empfehlenswert.
Das Verkehrsmuseum Frankfurt ist immer eine Reise wert, zudem gab es heute eine interessante Führung durch den Wagenpark in Halle Ost. Das war sehr informativ.
Das Museum ist nur sonntags geöffnet, weil alle Mitarbeiter ehrenamtlich dort tätig sind. Die Ausstellung ist einfach Klasse für Strassenbahn Fans und Leute, die sich dafür interessieren. Es sind noch sehr viele Strassenbahnen ausgestellt, die hundert Jahre und älter sind, ebenso Exponate aus neuerer Zeit, z.B. aus den 60igern, auch die erste U U-Bahn ist dort zu sehen. Zusätzlich werden auch alte Busse gezeigt, bei einer Führung durch die freundlichen und sachkundigen Mitarbeiter lernt man viel über die Geschichte der Strassenbahn in Frankfurt, von der Pferdetram angefangen bis zu Bildern der neuen Bahnen, die erst nächstes Jahr eingeführt werden. Mich hat besonders das Engagement der Mitarbeiter beeindruckt, die mit Begeisterung bei der Sache sind.
In einer Fahrzeughalle stehen Busse und Bahnen verschiedener Epochen. Einige Vitrinen und Informationstafeln ergänzen die Ausstellung. Eher für Fans zu empfehlen. Das Museum gibt es jetzt auch schon seit einigen Jahrzehnten und es hat sich nach meiner Meinung kaum weiterentwickelt. Neueren technischen Trends und Fahrzeugen wird nur wenig Rechnung getragen. Einmal im Jahr zum Sommerfest ist der Eintritt frei und es wird gegrillt.
Eines der interessantesten Museen in Frankfurt. Es werden alte Straßenbahnwagen, Busse, Modelle und Gegenstände des öffentlichen Personennahverkehrs aus Frankfurt und Umgebung gezeigt. Ein jährliches Sommerfest mit Fahrten von historischen Straßenbahnen und Bussen ist ein Anziehungspunkt für Kinder und Fans.Die Mitarbeiter des Museums geben gerne Auskunft und sind sehr engagiert.Leider ist eine öffentliche Toilette nur außerhalb zu finden und ein Museumscafé gibt es nicht. Außerdem liegt das Museum etwas abgelegen.
Tolles Museum, bin schon in der Kindheit oft dort gewesen. Ich bestaune nach wie vor die Straßenbahnen, auch mit meinem Sohn. Er mag das Museum genauso gerne!! Es liegen neben den zahlreichen Straßenbahnen die besichtigt werden können Malblätter für Kinder aus, es gibt eine Bahn für die Kinder zum reinkrabbeln und eine Fahrschule. Ich fühle mich immer zeitversetzt. Das Museum ist sauber, gut geführt, da steckt viel Liebe mit drin. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sterne
