Due to the ongoing closure of the Transport Museum, we are unable to offer group/guided tours. We ask for your understanding. However, we will continue to offer our events for the whole family, such as the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus Express.
Outside the opening hours of the Transport Museum (Mondays to Saturdays), you can book guided tours for groups, school classes or kindergarten groups. These tours include:
- An expert tour through the exhibition and the outdoor area. It not only provides fascinating insights into the 150-year history of Frankfurt’s public transport system, but also into the functioning and operating technology of the historic buses and trains.
- Age-appropriate tours tailored to your group, so there is something exciting for everyone, young and old.
- The opportunity to visit our museum store after the tour and buy interesting souvenirs.
Please note that group tours must be booked at least one month in advance so that our volunteers can find a suitable date.
We also recommend at least two supervisors for school classes and kindergarten groups so that the groups can be split up for the tour if necessary.
Prices for guided tours can be arranged individually for you on request.

Children’s birthday parties at the Transport Museum (currently not available!)
A birthday party at the Transport Museum is a popular highlight, especially for our younger guests. In addition to a child-friendly guided tour of the exhibition, there is plenty of time for cake breaks or to unwrap presents. With as many interactive exhibits as possible, such as our children’s driving school, the model railroad or the opportunity to set a switch yourself, the day becomes an unforgettable experience.
- We recommend children’s birthday parties for groups between 6 and 14 years old
- We are happy to cater to your individual wishes.
- Unfortunately, the museum cannot provide catering, but you can bring your own food and drinks and enjoy them in the museum.
- The birthday child and the party guests receive a small souvenir from us.
Please note that children’s birthday parties must be booked at least one month in advance so that our volunteers can find a suitable date.
We also recommend at least two supervisors for school classes and kindergarten groups so that the groups can be split up for the tour if necessary.

- From Konstablerwache, Willy-Brandt-Platz or Hauptbahnhof/Münchener Straße take the streetcar line
12 in the direction of Rheinlandstraße. The museum is located directly at the terminus. - With the S-Bahn lines
S7, S8 and S9, you can also reach the streetcar line 12 from Niederrad station in the direction of Rheinlandstraße. The museum is located directly at the terminus.
From Höchst:
- From Höchst train station, take the bus line
51 in the direction of Triftstraße. The buses stop at the Rheinlandstraße stop directly in front of the museum.
From the airport:
- From the airport terminal 1/regional train station, take the bus line 62 in the direction of Schwanheim. The buses stop at the Rheinlandstraße stop directly in front of the museum.

Via the A3 and B43:
- On the A3, change to the B43 at junction(50) – Frankfurt-Flughafen or (49) – Kelsterbach.
- On the B43 from the Unterschweinstiege/Gateway Gardens junction, follow the signs to Schwanheim. The transport museum is located directly at the entrance to the town.
Via the A5:
- From junction (21) – Frankfurt-Niederrad follow the signs to Schwanheim. From Rheinlandstraße, the route to the Transport Museum is signposted.
Via the A66 and B40:
- On the A3, change to the B40 at junction(13) – Krifteler Dreieck.
- On the B40, follow the signs to Schwanheim. Leave the B40 at the Schwanheim junction and follow the Schwanheimer Ufer road. From Rheinlandstraße, the route to the Transport Museum is signposted.
Parking:
There are no visitor parking spaces available on the museum grounds. However, there are plenty of free public parking spaces within walking distance.

There are only limited public parking spaces available near the Museum of Transport.
The Transport Museum can be easily reached by bike via the Mainufer cycle path and the Frankfurt city forest. From the city center, follow the southern side of the Main to Schwanheim and then follow the signs to Waldspielpark Schwanheim. The museum is located directly opposite the Waldspielpark. Covered bicycle parking facilities are available at the Rheinlandstraße streetcar stop, right next to the museum.
