ABOUT THE MUSEUM ASSOCIATION
The founding meeting took place in November 2004, and since then the association has officially been called "Historische Straßenbahn der Stadt Frankfurt am Main e. V." (HSF). The first general meeting was convened for October of the following year. In summer 2006, the association was finally entered in the register of associations as a non-profit organization.
Since its foundation, the HSF has already been able to hold several member events that have offered insights into otherwise hidden areas of Frankfurt's public transport system. These include tunnel walks on the subway lines or guided tours behind the scenes of the workshops. Numerous exclusive special trips on historic buses and trains are also part of the regular member events. Such highlights of club life are particularly close to our hearts, which is why we are constantly planning further events.
However, the most significant milestone in the association's history is the takeover of the transport museum of the Frankfurt public transport company in Schwanheim on the Easter weekend of 2006. The association is now responsible for the guided tours and Sunday opening days of the exhibition, among other things.
For coordination purposes, the association's work is divided into four key areas of activity (TB). All members can actively participate in these areas.
- TB Museum: takes care of all matters relating to the transport museum, events on site and visitors during opening hours. The TB also designs and continuously develops the permanent exhibition. Contact person on the board: Othmar Schnabel
- TB event: organizes and plans all special trips and events involving historic buses, streetcars and subway trains on the network of the VGF on the road. This also includes drawing up the timetables and internal personnel planning.
- TB Communication: maintains the website of the museum and the Associationas well as the social media accounts. The TB also handles communication with our passengers and visitors at events in the form of posters, flyers, printed materials and on-site staff. Inquiries about the museum and the association are also answered by the association's communications department.
- TB Archive: looks after and maintains the association's archive, catalogs and archives objects, exhibits and documents from the eventful history of Frankfurt's public transport system. It is also responsible for researching the content of exhibitions and publications, such as historical images. We are also happy to make our extensive collection available to third parties. Contact person on the board: Arthur Rudolph.
