The founding meeting took place in November 2004, and since then the association has officially been called “Historische Straßenbahn der Stadt Frankfurt am Main e.V.”(HSF). The first general meeting was convened for October of the following year. In the summer of 2006, the association was finally entered in the register of associations as a non-profit organization.
Since its foundation, the HSF has already been able to organize several member events that have offered insights into otherwise hidden areas of Frankfurt’s public transport system. These include tunnel walks on the subway lines or guided tours behind the scenes of the workshops. Numerous exclusive special trips on historic buses and trains are also part of the regular member events. Such highlights of club life are particularly close to our hearts, which is why we are constantly planning further events.
However, the most significant milestone in the association’s history is the takeover of the Verkehrsmuseum der Stadtwerke Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt in Schwanheim on the Easter weekend of 2006. The association is now responsible for the guided tours and Sunday opening days of the exhibition, among other things.
For coordination purposes, the association’s work is divided into four areas of activity (TB). All members can actively participate in these areas.
