The last TW was taken out of service in 1966, but 173 was bought by Mr. Knupe. As he wanted to drive it, but it was not possible at DSW, he applied to the Dortmunder Eisenbahn to be able to use the car in battery operation on their network.
From 1968 onwards, he undertook a number of excursions with it – some with BW 598 and also generator BW 710.
After a journey and the necessary recharging of the batteries, it burned out completely due to a short circuit.
It was then transferred to the DSW for restoration. The work was only started there and finally completed there after it was transferred to Mooskamp in 2008.
Unfortunately, it has bearing damage that cannot currently be repaired. It is therefore not ready for use.
