The VGF depot in Eckenheim and the Feldbahnmuseum invite you to get to know Frankfurt’s local transport history up close!

The Frankfurt Day of Transport History will take place for the 21st time on September 1, 2024. The association “Historische Straßenbahn der Stadt Frankfurt am Main e. V.”(HSF) is organizing this journey through the history of local public transport together with the Frankfurter Feldbahnmuseum e. V. and offers visitors an exciting programme and an attractive journey with historic vehicles.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. , HSF will be exhibiting some rail and road vehicles worth seeing at the VGF depot in Eckenheim. The C railcar 375, L railcar 236 and l sidecar 1219, which have been behind closed gates since 2022, will probably be in front of the camera lens. In addition, buses from Mercedes, MAN and Solaris, which will end their service in the foreseeable future, visit the streetcar depot.

While their camera memories are being used up, younger visitors can have their favorite motifs painted on their foreheads at the on-site make-up station! In addition, the HSF museum store – also in Eckenheim – can only be recommended as an opportunity for young and old to browse. The wide selection ranges from wooden trains to collector’s models and specialist literature. And if you run out of energy, you can also find something to eat and drink on site.

However, the history of local transport cannot just be presented “statically”. That’s why two historic buses, an O305 from the VGF and an O307 from IG Bahnbus e. V., provide passengers with a convenient hourly service to the Eckenheim depot and the Feldbahnmuseum in Rebstock. Among other things, a meeting of road and rail veterans takes place there, as well as a ride with historic trains.

Event times at the VGF depot:
– Sunday, 01.09. from 11:00 to 17:00

The RMV fare and transportation conditions apply on special transport trains. Accordingly, travel is possible with a regular ticket. As the historic vehicles do not have multi-purpose areas, bicycles are unfortunately not permitted to avoid blocked escape routes. For operational reasons, there may be route changes, timetable deviations and changes to the deployment of vehicles.
